Mr Jullien Brady gives his expert advice on cervical screening and that 99.7% of cervical cases are preventable with screening and HPV vaccination - no woman should die from this disease. In the UK, 3,000 cases are diagnosed each year and sadly 1,000 women will lose their lives to cervical cancer every year.
Mr Jullien Brady discusses how barriers to screening are preventing women from getting tested for cervical cancer. Jullien discusses the reasons why women are not attending smear tests which range from:
- The logistics of physically getting to an appointment
- The fact that it is an invasive test
- Women having difficult experiences from previous smears
- Ethnic and marginalised groups
- Women who have experienced sexual violence
